Head of Communications
Latin America will spend this decade deciding whether it builds frontier AI capability or rents it. The region holds the energy, the minerals, the data, and the talent of 660 million people, and almost none of the compute, the models, or the governance leverage. Futuros exists to change that.
Futuros is the evidence platform for that argument: a live, cited, trilingual observatory of 25 countries built to put verifiable numbers in front of heads of state, CELAC, the IDB, CAF, ECLAC, and the private sector. Every claim on the platform resolves to a source, and the platform is in production today.
Platform in early access for partners and funders. We will walk you through it live during the process.
The role
The Head of Communications owns the Futuros voice: direct, concrete, and falsifiable, in Spanish first. The job is to make evidence land with people who are drowning in documents, from a president's morning briefing to a wire-service story, without ever trading accuracy for reach.
What you'll do
- Own the voice. One register across the platform, briefings, decks, and public copy: direct, sourced, no hype. Spanish primary, English and Portuguese as peers.
- Write the flagship material. Briefings and one-pagers for heads of state and ministers, op-eds, and the reports that carry the initiative's arguments.
- Run press and public presence. Launches, pilot announcements, and report releases with regional and international media.
- Tailor by audience. Presidents, multilateral staff, private-sector boards, and civil society each get the version that moves them, built from the same verified numbers.
- Guard the standard. Every public claim traces to the platform. If the number is uncertain, the copy says so.
- Build with the tools. Use the platform and its AI systems to draft, verify, and localize at a pace a traditional comms team cannot match.
What we're looking for
- A writer first. Native-level Spanish and professional English, with published work you are proud of; you cut adjectives and keep numbers.
- Data storytelling. You have turned statistical work into narratives for non-technical decision-makers without distorting it.
- Policy or newsroom experience. You know how a briefing reaches a minister or how a story gets past an editor, ideally both.
- Speed with judgment. Fast drafts, clean facts, and the sense to know which one matters more in the moment.
- Founding temperament. You are comfortable owning ambiguous problems with no one above you to escalate to.
Nice to have
- Portuguese.
- A LATAM newsroom or government-communications background.
- Visual sense: you can brief a designer precisely, or do the first pass yourself.
- Short-form video and social fluency.
How this works
This is a founding conversation. We are open on compensation, equity, and scope for the right fit, and we come to the table with strong institutional backing. We will be transparent about terms from the first call and expect the same directness back.
